Welcome to Sanctuary Counselling. My name is Rachel and my counselling practice is based between Oxted and Redhill, Surrey.
Does life sometimes feel overwhelming to such an extent that you feel stuck and helpless? Are your relationships suffering? Are you struggling with family or work difficulties, bereavements, losses, or finding yourself affected by entrenched childhood issues and traumas? Maybe you are feeling chronically unhappy, but are unable to pinpoint why.
So many people suffer alone, often battling with depression, anxiety and low self-esteem. It can sometimes be so difficult sharing problems with a close friend or family member, especially if you are struggling to even understand yourself.
Counselling offers the chance to talk with someone objective in a non-judgemental setting.
I am a warm, approachable and experienced therapist and have been working for 25 years with clients in various settings, 15 years of which were spent within the NHS as a Registered Mental Health Nurse.
Over the years I have had the privilege of working alongside people and seeing them begin a new life of growth and fulfilment. Counselling can and does help.
I offer a confidential, empathic and peaceful space where you will be listened to with respect. Counselling is not about giving advice, but about enabling you to both find answers within yourself, and to begin a journey of discovery about who you are and what your individual patterns in relationships and attachments are.
I offer both longer term open-ended therapy and short term therapy. I work mainly within the psychodynamic model, which recognises how your experiences in childhood may affect who you are today.
Together, guided by your pace, we can begin to work through your personal story.
